Mission

Internship: Data Access Web API Proof of Concept

Context

The Import/Export functionality in UMISOFT manages the import and export of operational data. We are looking for an intern to explore a broader data-access solution by developing a Proof of Concept (PoC) for a web API.Objective

The objective of this internship is to design and implement a web API that can query all types of data handled and stored by UMISOFT. The solution should be based on a stable, well-defined data model that supports the storage and retrieval of both current operational data and historical records.Main Activities

The intern will identify the existing data types, their relationships, and the mechanisms used to store them. Based on this analysis, a consistent data model will be proposed, including an approach to preserving historical data.

The intern will then implement API endpoints that allow each data type to be retrieved and filtered. The solution will demonstrate the storage and retrieval of both operational and historical data.

Finally, the intern will document the design choices, limitations, and potential next steps for further development.

Expected Deliverables

The expected deliverables of the internship are:

  • A working Proof of Concept (PoC).

  • A documented data model.

  • API documentation with example requests.

  • Tests covering representative use cases.

Desired Profile

The ideal candidate is a student in software engineering, computer science, or a related field, with an interest in backend development and data modelling. C# is the preferred programming language. Knowledge of SQL and other database technologies is recommended.
