To strengthen our team, we are looking for a Field Service Engineer – Technical Trainer. In this versatile role, you will combine strong technical expertise with a passion for sharing knowledge. You will develop and deliver technical training, support customers with maintenance and troubleshooting, and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of our systems and maintenance processes.

Your responsibilities

Technical Training

  • You will develop and deliver technical training on the operation, maintenance, and diagnostics of autonomous maritime systems (AUVs, ROVs, and USVs).
  • You will prepare and maintain training materials, technical manuals, procedures, and e-learning modules.
  • You will deliver both classroom and hands-on training to maintenance technicians, operators, customer engineers, and internal staff.
  • You will provide training on preventive and corrective maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair procedures, system architectures, and diagnostic and supervisory software.

Technical Support

  • You will participate in testing, validation, and commissioning activities to build practical expertise.
  • You will support customers and colleagues with troubleshooting, failure analysis, and technical interventions.
  • You will contribute to commissioning activities, retrofit projects, and complex maintenance operations.
  • You will deliver technical demonstrations and provide customer support in Belgium, France, and internationally.

Continuous Improvement

  • You will gather feedback from customers, technicians, and project teams and translate it into improvements to training programs, maintenance procedures, and technical documentation.
  • You will analyze recurring technical issues and contribute to improving the reliability of our systems.
  • You will keep technical documentation, maintenance manuals, and knowledge databases up to date.
  • You will work closely with Engineering, Product Management, and Technical Support to continuously improve the quality of our solutions.

Your profile

  • You hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical field and have at least three years of experience maintaining complex technical systems.
  • Experience with autonomous or embedded systems is an asset, while experience as a technical trainer is a strong advantage.
  • You have a solid background in mechanics, electronics, and electrical engineering.
  • You are familiar with preventive and corrective maintenance, fault diagnosis, and interpreting technical documentation.
  • You are comfortable using testing, measurement, and diagnostic equipment.
  • You communicate clearly and can explain complex technical concepts in an understandable way.
  • You are analytical, accurate, solution-oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • You are fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch is a strong asset and French is a plus.
  • You hold a valid Category B driving licence and are willing to travel internationally for approximately 50 to 70 days per year, including to France, for training, technical support, demonstrations, and commissioning activities.

Why join Exail?

  • You will work on innovative autonomous maritime technologies with global impact.
  • You will enjoy a varied role combining engineering, training, and international customer interaction.
  • You will be part of an international and innovative working environment where collaboration and knowledge sharing are central.
  • You will benefit from extensive training opportunities and challenging projects that support your professional development.
